Nine die, 50 hurt in botched Congo jail break (Reuters)

Reuters - Nine inmates were killed in a botched prison break in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday after one of them pulled the pin on a grenade but didn't throw it, a police official said.

African rhino poaching hits record on Asian demand (Reuters)

Reuters - A record number of rhinos were poached this year in South Africa, home to the greatest number of the animals, as rising demand in Asia for their horns led to increased killings of the threatened species.
